Bertus from Meat the Butcher gets all of his grass fed beef from Langside Meats and his pasture raised pork from Het Goedgeloof.

Langside Meats is certified grass fed by the Grass Fed Association of South Africa. 9 cattle ranchers in the Queenstown district of the Eastern Cape have formed a partnership to provide a constant supply of quality grass finished beef while conserving their natural environment as our most important non-negotiable priority and promote this at every available opportunity!

Extensive grassy planes, interspersed with Acacia trees offers an ideal, natural habitat for cattle. This sweet veld is of an excellent quality to fatten the herds, with a high nutrient content from a large variety of grass types, excellent for beef production. It enables Langside Meats to run their herds purely off the veld, without having to give them extra feed to keep up their condition, even in the dry years. In addition absolutely no antibiotics, steroids or growth hormones given to the cattle, and no preservatives added to the beef, which produces healthier, better-tasting beef.

The attraction of good, grass fed-beef is its health benefits and wonderful, farm fresh quality. Quite simply ~ veld reared beef is the healthier option and it tastes superb! Our beef has the right balance of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and vitamin E. Beef at its best - Proudly Farm to fork!

Het Goedgeloof’s pigs are therefore not only free range – they are pasture raised in the Klein Karoo.

As soon as they are weaned, they are moved to paddocks, where they graze on established pastures which vary according to the season, much as they would in the wild. Their diet is supplemented with wholesome food in order to ensure good growth and health.

They are given no food swill, growth hormones or routine antibiotics.
